TRENTON — A coalition of animal-rights advocates today urged the state Legislature to override Gov. Chris Christie’s veto of a bill that would ban the “cruel” farm practice of keeping pregnant pigs in gestation crates.
The Humane Society of the United States announced it is launching a $150,000 television ad campaign in the state to educate voters on the issue.
“All animals deserve humane treatment — especially if they’re being raised for food,” Humane Society President Wayne Pacelle said during a teleconference call this morning. “If animals are being raised for food, by God, we have to make sure they are not suffering in the run up to their slaughter.”   READ MORE
HSUS is targeting the state of New Jersey with an emotional based campaign to override a veto by Gov. Chris Christie.  He vetoed the bill based on science not emotion. HSUS is once again attacking a state with very few families that raise hogs. It is our duty as people in agriculture to reach out to New Jersey residents and share the real story of how livestock is raised. How??  Social Media! It’s another place where Team Ag can work together.   -Stacy

The HSUS is one of the Non- Government Organizations (NGO's) tied directly to the UN Agenda 21 plan to destroy the Constitution of the United States as the governing document of America and replace it with the individual policies taken from the 340 page UN Agenda 21 Charter. Never support the HSUS in any effort. The founder of UN Agenda 21 is Maurice Strong, Strong is a senior board member and advisor of the HSUS that has stated his goal is to "cause the collapse of America" and he advocates using NGO's like the HSUS to achieve his goal. The role of the HSUS is to attack our agriculture industries, drive up the cost of agriculture production and ultimately achieve Strong's goal of destroying our Constitution and America.

I am currently taking an animal welfare class and we are discussing issues just like this, I find this one in particular interesting because it really is just a great example of what money can buy. It is clear that this bill was detrimental to hog operations but HSUS saw this as a great opportunity to sneak their way in the discussion to start eliminating production processes they find “harmful” to animals. Obviously with enough funding they were able to start a collation to override his veto; which is very disappointing to hear. I was pleased to see that this article stated that Gov. Chris Christie vetoed the bill based off of science and NOT emotion. I think this is a quality that all legislators should hold in their decisions towards bills like these.
